![]() You also get Kontakt 7 which opens the door for the third-party sound libraries. It's hard to say which one is my favourite because there is so much to explore. You have a lot of good sounds in general: Prime Bass and other guitar plugins sound quite realistic, synths like Massive X, Massive are great. Probably the only one that is revolutionary in Komplete. Playbox really sparks your creativity and provides you with a lot of options to add layers to your track or start a song if you don't have ideas. Go and see some videos of people using it. There are a few Play Series instruments and each of them is good for a different style (however, most are focused on hip-hop and pop). I like Play Series instruments because they have great presets that are basically ready-to-use immediately and assigned parameters that are easy to tweak. Everything is high quality and intuitive. I enjoy using almost every plugin that comes with Komplete (I'm not a fan of Studio Drummer for me it sounds weak and uninspired.). It's a massive library and it comes with everything that you need to create music. Well, if you still want to buy Komplete Standard straight away, this is my short overview: I bought Maschine MK3 in 2021 which came with Komplete 13 Select, then I upgraded to Komplete 13 Standard during Summer of Sound in 2021, and then I updated to 14 Standard a few weeks ago. If in a year or two you still feel that music making is what you want to do (even as a hobby, that's okay as well), then I'd upgrade to Komplete Standard (perhaps when Komplete 15 is released?). M32 comes with a few plugins (doesn't it come with Komplete 14 Select now? well, it's a decent bundle on its own) and Maschine software, which will provide you with plenty of options. ![]() Perhaps it will turn out that you don't want to make music and you don't feel the passion for it? If you want to invest some money at the beginning then I'd go only for M32 and Ableton Live Lite. I bought it after around 2 years of creating music. When I started, I didn't even have MIDI controller. I bought Maschine MK3 and Komplete 13 Standard when I was 9 years into my music-making journey and I was sure that music production is and is going to be my hobby for a long time. It's an awesome bundle but I wouldn't spend so much money if I were a beginner. I'm saiyng this as a big fan of everything related to Native Instruments. ![]() I wouldn't purchase Komplete 14 Standard if I were you. Or you could just use Maschine since that comes bundled with the M32. If you just need a DAW I’d just upgrade to maybe intro or standard so you get access to more tracks. Take your time enjoying komplete and learning how to get the most out of it. Also, if you can stick to 8 tracks I’d hold off on upgrading to Live Suite, you don’t want to overload yourself with too much at once. I would start with what you need or just download it all and see what you use then delete the rest, you can always re-download later. You don’t have to install every product though. I make instrumental beats sometimes guitar centered sometimes synth centered, but komplete allows me to do any genre really. I would start with those, I don’t really stick to one genre. All the piano libraries sound great and feel good to play on full size keys (I have the S49mk2). I also use a lot of the play series instruments (analog dreams, hybrid keys, Modular icons). I only wish it and all the other drum libraries had more grooves/patterns as I’m not great at coming up with good patterns for acoustic drums. Studio drummer is a good drum library, I use it and butch vig drums for a lot of my tracks. Playbox is super creatively inspiring, its great when starting to build a track and getting ideas flowing.
